Elon Musk's Starlink Is Now Available In The Dominican Republic

The satellite internet of Starlink, the company of the American tycoon Elon Musk, is now available throughout the Dominican Republic.

The information was offered by the company through its Twitter account this Thursday.

“Starlink is now available in the Dominican Republic! Excited to expand high-speed broadband Internet access in the Caribbean,” the company wrote in a tweet.

Last June, during his visit to Los Angeles for the Summit of the Americas, the president of Luis Abinader visited the Starlink facilities and announced that this entity had submitted an application to offer its internet services in the country.

The president assured that once the request is approved, the Dominican Republic will be “the first country in the Caribbean and the third in Latin America to have broadband, low latency, global coverage at low cost.”

According to the company, its goal is to place thousands of satellites in orbit to bring the Internet to every corner of the planet, including rural areas with little connectivity.

Likewise, it has revealed that it was made thinking for those geographical areas where fiber does not reach and 4G or 5G connections fall short.

Starlink is available in 32 countries around the world, the company announced.

Internet service costs $99 per month (plus taxes and fees). It also costs $500 for the mountable satellite dish and router.
